Trento Ranks First in LinkedIn’s 2026 Cities on the Rise

LinkedIn’s new ranking places Trento first in Italy for labour-market momentum. Move to Trentino data shows that internationally accessible opportunities extend well beyond the provincial capital.

LinkedIn has placed Trento at the top of its first Italian Città in Crescita ranking, which identifies emerging cities where employment opportunities are gaining momentum and new professionals are choosing to settle.

The ranking is based on three indicators: year-on-year growth in hiring, growth in job advertisements, and the balance between professionals moving into and leaving each area. The analysis uses aggregated and anonymised LinkedIn data covering the period from 1 March 2024 to 1 February 2026.

LinkedIn deliberately focuses on medium-sized urban areas, excluding cities with fewer than 100,000 or more than one million LinkedIn users. The result should therefore not be interpreted as a ranking of every Italian labour market, but as an indication of where professional activity is currently gaining momentum outside the country’s largest metropolitan centres.

For Trento, LinkedIn identifies IT services and consulting, research services and machinery manufacturing as the sectors accounting for the largest shares of hiring. Around 25% of the job advertisements included in the analysis offered hybrid work, while 2% were classified as fully remote.

What does Move to Trentino’s data add to the discussion?

LinkedIn’s ranking focuses on Trento as urban area. However, the vacancies collected by Move to Trentino offer a closer look at the internationally accessible labour market across the entire province.

Between December 2025 and July 2026, Move to Trentino published 200 English-friendly or bilingual job listings. These opportunities were selected because they were accessible to international candidates, either through English alone or through a combination of Italian and English.

Move to Trentino does not source vacancies exclusively from LinkedIn. Jobs are also identified through employers’ and institutions’ career pages, local recruitment channels, and positions submitted directly to us. Many of these opportunities are not advertised on LinkedIn, meaning that our data provides a complementary view of the English-friendly and bilingual roles available across the province.

It is important to note that these figures do not represent every vacancy available in Trentino. They do, however, provide a useful snapshot of the segment of the provincial labour market that is most accessible to professionals arriving from abroad.

Opportunities extend beyond Trento

Trento was the main location in our dataset, accounting for 122 of the 200 published listings, or 61%.

However, more than one third of the opportunities were clearly located elsewhere in the province:

LocationPublished listingsShare
Trento12261.0%
Rovereto2814.0%
Arco2311.5%
Other locations in the province2311.5%
Province-wide or multiple locations42.0%

In total, 94 listings, or 47%, were clearly based outside Trento, while another four covered the province as a whole or included more than one location.

Rovereto and Arco emerge as particularly important employment centres, together accounting for more than one quarter of all the vacancies published on the site. Other opportunities appeared in Lavis, Pergine Valsugana, Levico Terme, Riva del Garda, San Michele all’Adige, Cavalese, Ala and several smaller municipalities.

This province-wide distribution is important for international candidates. Trento may be the principal employment hub, but it is not the only place where internationally accessible careers can be found.

English-friendly jobs are everywhere *

Of the 200 published listings:

  • 135 were classified as English only, representing 67.5%;
  • 63 required both Italian and English, representing 31.5%;
  • two had as a requirement a third language and were therefore listed as unclassified.

When the two unclassified positions are excluded, 68.2% of the vacancies could be accessed through English alone.

The proportion was also slightly higher outside Trento:

  • in Trento, 80 of the 120 classified listings were English only, or 66.7%;
  • elsewhere in the province, 54 of 74 were English only, or 73.0%.

These figures suggest that international candidates should not necessarily restrict their search to the provincial capital. Employers in Rovereto, Arco and other locations are also recruiting for positions in which English is the principal working or application language.

* This does not mean that Italian is unimportant. Knowledge of Italian can substantially expand the range of available positions and make everyday life easier. Nevertheless, the data shows that it is possible to begin exploring the provincial labour market before reaching full professional fluency in Italian.

A steady flow of internationally accessible opportunities

The number of jobs published by Move to Trentino remained relatively consistent during the first six complete months of 2026:

MonthPublished listings
January25
February35
March32
April21
May35
June25

This corresponds to an average of approximately 29 listings per month.

These figures should not be interpreted as direct evidence that the entire provincial labour market grew during this period. The number of jobs appearing on Move to Trentino can also be influenced by changes in our monitoring activities, publication frequency, editorial criteria and the availability of sufficiently detailed job advertisements.

They nevertheless demonstrate a sustained flow of positions accessible to international candidates across research, technology, engineering, manufacturing, administration, sales and other specialised fields.

Making growth accessible

Trento’s first-place position is encouraging: it highlights the strength of a territory that combines research institutions, universities, innovative companies, advanced manufacturing and a high quality of life.

Attracting talent, however, is only the beginning. For growth to be sustainable, professionals arriving from elsewhere must also be able to discover opportunities, understand local recruitment practices and access clear information about salaries, working conditions, housing and everyday life.

Why this matters to us? Easy: we believe that a more open, international labour market benefits both Trentino and those who choose to build their lives here.

Disclaimer: about the data

The Move to Trentino figures in this article are based on 200 job listings published between 5 December 2025 and 24 July 2026.

Vacancies are identified and selected according to Move to Trentino’s editorial criteria, with a focus on roles that are accessible to international candidates and provide sufficient information to be presented clearly and reliably. The figures therefore describe vacancies identified and published by Move to Trentino through a range of sources, including company and institutional career pages, recruitment platforms, direct submissions and LinkedIn. They should therefore be understood as an editorial snapshot of the English-friendly and internationally accessible segment of the provincial labour market and not as a comprehensive measure of all vacancies, employment levels or labour-market growth in Trentino.

Because many of the positions monitored by Move to Trentino are not advertised on LinkedIn, the dataset complements the platform’s ranking by highlighting opportunities that may otherwise be less visible to international candidates.
